Air Compressors

What is the use of air compressors. And so today I found out that… Air compressors can be used to push a piston, as in a jackhammer; it can go through a small air turbine to turn a shaft, as in a dental drill; or it can be expanded through a nozzle to produce a high-speed jet, as in a paint sprayer. To turn a shaft, as in a dental drill; or it can be expanded through a nozzle to produce a high-speed jet, as a paint sprayer. Common applications in industrial plants and on construction sites are air-powered nailers and staplers. In paint spraying and in air conveying, the dynamic pressure of the air imparts motion

There are many uses of air compressors, you have to be specific. There are certain aircraft like the DC-10 and I think the 777 which have an air compressor to pressurize the aircraft water system. I am sure of the DC-10 because I replaced one but the 777, if my memory serves me during my aircraft Gen Familiarization Course B777. There are compressors also on the aircraft air conditioning system.

We need more info. In a garage, an air compressor is there to compress air so that the pressure can be used for work.

To compress air. That air could be used to inflate tires, power pneumatic tools, supply a flow of air to an airbrush, or dozens of other uses. You asked this in the aircraft section, so I have point out that modern aircraft may not have dedicated air compressors. Jet engines compress air before it enters the combustion chambers, so any high pressure air is just bled off of the engine compressor. The most common use of this is to increase the pressure in the cabin to provide a useful level of oxygen.

Jet engines use the compressor fan blades in the beginning of the engine to compress the air. If the air is compressed, they can fit more in to the combustion chamber, blow it up, and as a result it has increased engine power
