Gas Lines

My husband and I are buying a house in a town where certain areas have gas lines and certain areas don't. I named The Gas Co to find out if there were gas lines running to our house and they said no, but they would have a planner call me to give me an idea of cost to add lines on our street. I am impatient and don't want to wait 7 days for the planner guy to call so I am wondering if anyone ever had to do this and how much was the cost. Well, I have your answer right here. When I converted my home from propane to natural gas the gas company didn't charge me anything to run the line from the street to my house. . . That was many years ago. California Gas Company. The gas company had just installed a new gas line in my street. I did have to hire a plumbing contractor to run the gas line from my meter to my pool heater. I would also add, that propane gas is very expensive and inconvenient. Especially if you live in a cooler climate the cost of the installation will soon pay for itself compared to the natural gas vs. Propane.

Never added gas but where I have built I pay about $3. 00 a foot for water, $5. 60 a foot for electricity and the phone company doesn't charge to run a line. If we want gas we get tanks where I am at.
