Roof Installation

The church across the street (5000 sq. Ft. ) is having a new slate roof put on. Workmen have been working since August (3 months) from sunup to sundown mostly all day but Sundays and holidays. They are still at it and it's sometimes a noisy procedure. How long can a roof installation take. I think I found an answer. I guess it takes as long as it takes. Slate is much more labor intensive to install than standard shingles, however three months seems excessively long unless they are rebuilding the entire roof.
